DISCUSSION TOPICS

March 6th Morning Session
WHAT DO WE HAVE?

Services companies - Well established service companies have been serving the Appalachian Basin for years. What services are currently sufficient? What new or expanded services are anticipated?
Prospect Evaluation & Data - Is there enough information available from well logs and cores?
People - Directional Drillers, Consultants - A shortage of people working in the Oil & Gas industry exists everywhere - What strengths do we have here
Drilling Rigs for Deep Horizontal Wells - Historically these types of wells have not been drilled in the Appalachian Basin. What equipment do we have in place for this type of drilling and what is readily accessible?
Water use and Water Disposal Issues - A major issue that must be handled properly. Fortunately we are a water rich area. How do we dispose of the tremendous volumes of water needed properly now and in the future?

March 6th Afternoon Session
WHAT WILL BE REQUIRED FOR SUCCESSFUL DRILLING AND COMPLETION IN THE APPALACIAN BASIN?

Technology has made shale resources profitable but what technologies are needed here? Determining the right technology for the job is critical in seeing those profits.

Vertical vs Horizontal Wells - Tools & Packers - What’s right for this basin? - Is there a shortage of equipment & if so, what is in short supply?
Maximizing Drilling Techniques & Technologies for this play - Is Coiled Tube Drilling applicable? Drilling straight down before taking a right angle?
Stimulations & Completions - Coiled tubing - Dynamic Diversion Techniques - Utilizing mechanical downhole assemblies. What are the lessons learned in other Shale Gas plays & what is applicable in the Appalachian Basin?
Fracturing Fluids - Slick Water Fracs vs Gel Jobs or Hybrids, Flowback methods - Well testing methods - Load recovery - Environmental effects - Proppants
Horizontals & Fracturing Processes - Cemented vs Uncemented laterals - Optimum number of stages - Optimum number of Perf Clusters & Simo Fracs.

March 7th Morning Session
HOW DO WE GET IT TO MARKET?

Commercial Gathering Systems - what is needed to meet the anticipated demand?
Gathering lines pipelines, compressors, storage etc.
Pipeline Components and Design
Storage - What facilitates are currently in place? Are they sufficient to handle the growth? What additions are needed?
Stranded Gas - How much is this affecting the flow to market? Where is this occurring and what can be done to provide relief?

March 7th Afternoon Session
WHAT OTHER ISSUES HAVE TO BE ADDRESSED?

Safety - new people, new equipment not normally utilized in the Appalachian basin. What training is needed now and how can companies cooperate?
Supplies - Sand, Nitrogen, CO2 Infrastructure
Equipment and Supplies - tools, packers, trucks - What is needed in the Appalachian Basin that is readily available in the Barnett?
Regulatory framework and Community Outreach - What are the political realities and community relationship realities we must work with in the Appalachian Basin
Logistics - Getting equipment and supplies from point A to B in the Appalachian Basin is not the same as in the Barnett.
